100 Poems: Poem 22
May. 11th, 2014 12:05 am{Take the 100 Things challenge!}
I don't know when I exactly I became aware of Alice Dunbar. I remember reading a poem by Paul Dunbar and loving it. I probably clicked on her page on the Wiki.
But I've found myself become more interested in her life. I was googling her when I came across I Sit and Sew. I think it like it so much because it speaks to the limits that are placed on women. I feel like I'm not fully able to express myself or perhaps be as ambitious as I would like because it's unfeminine. I will obliged to be demure about my ambition but there are large and vast but I feel ashamed and I know I shouldn't but the feeling is still there.
